Here are 7 easy pieces for your Spring capsule wardrobe – the key items that will keep us all looking chic (and at the right temperature) whatever the weather throws at us!

1: White shirt

Long sleeved cotton shirt from Cos £59 MORE INFO The White Company woven jersey shirt £55 (also available with longer sleeves) MORE INFO

2: Flat shoes

Just as fashionable as a pair of heels, flats are so much more comfortable and can just as easily make a style statement. Mandarina Iona Harris Tweed flats – I have a pair of these in Denim Blue and they are very hard wearing. Trainers – I’ve found the comfiest and most supportive are from FitFlop. Flat ankle boots in light tan leather (two other colours and half sizes available) are from M&S £49.50 MORE INFO.

3: Coat

Whatever floats your particular boat – puffa, trench, wool, parka. Baring parka in classic khaki from Boden £120 MORE INFO and this stunning leather trench – an online exclusive at Mango £339.99 MORE INFO

4: Breton t-shirt

Even my 90 year old mother regularly puts on a Breton tee. It is such a staple item and I’ve yet to see anyone it doesn’t suit. So many variations on the original navy/white – go wild! Boden long sleeve Breton is available in a host of wonderful colourways. £14 MORE INFO

5: Denim jeans

If you’re not sure which style suits you, opt for a high waist, dark navy, and straight leg. Longer length is best for this time of year (need to keep your ankles warm and those pasty legs hidden!) Highly recommend M&S as I wear them all the time – they are great quality and a great fit. MORE INFO

6: Jumper

Turtle, crew or a v neck, we still need to keep warm during this dreary early-Spring weather. Winser London has some knitwear designed by Gillian Andersen that is covetable – check out their website.

7: White tee

An extra layer – I love wearing mine with a v neck jersey – white always looks great with whatever colour jersey you happen to choose to wear. This one is from Thought and is Fairtrade Organic Cotton £27.95 MORE INFO
