Beauty Products: Sharing A Few Of My Favourite Things

October 13, 2018

This article was written for Annabel & Grace, which is now part of Rest Less.

Absolutely Favourite Beauty ProductsI loved Annabel’s 60th birthday post and admire enormously that, at 60, she now has calm, confidence and clarity of purpose. I, too, loved my 60’s but now, at (just) over 70 (think Helen Mirren!), I am more of the Dylan Thomas school “…old age should burn and rave at the close of day. Rage, rage against the dying of the light”! To that end, I thought I would share with you a few of my absolutely favourite things to fight against that dying of the light.

Absolutely Favourite Beauty Products Newhite UV Shield AmazonFirst up is Guinot Newhite UV50 Cream which I simply cannot live without. You just apply it daily with or without moisturiser. It really does brighten your skin and, of course, offer full protection to your wrinkles!

Absolutely Favourite Beauty Products Clarins Addition Concentre EclatAnother “sun” product I use all the time, winter as well as summer, is Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster. Just add a few drops to your moisturiser several times a week and it really does add a glow to your skin and take away that “OMG is that really me?” feeling first thing in the morning.

Absolutely Favourite Beauty Products Revitalift Filler HyaluromaskThe night cream I am using at the moment is good old l’Oreal and it’s their Revitalift Filler Hylaluromask with plumping beads (what else!). Although it’s a mask it can be used daily and it does make my skin feel plumper and softer.

Absolutely Favourite Beauty Products Gimme Brow BenefitMoving on to eyebrows, which I don’t have, the only product that really works for me is Benefit Gimme Brow volumising gel. Believe me, I have tried everything and this is does give the best impression of an arch and, rather importantly, doesn’t rub off, so when you look in the mirror you don’t have an monobrow!

For eyelashes, Revitalash has changed my and Grace’s lives to the extent that our eyelashes have grown so much with this amazing product, we have both had to trim them! Be warned, it is expensive, but we both think it is definitely worth it for such luscious long lashes. There are cheaper versions around but Revitalash seems to be the product of choice for many of our friends.

Absolutely Favourite Beauty Products Max Factor Masterpiece mascara £9.99Last but not least, I would like to recommend Max Factor’s Masterpiece mascara with their new high tech IFX brush which coats each lash and does not clump and at £9.99 is a really good price. It’s sad that, although I finally have eyelashes to bat, of course, at my age, nobody gives me a second look anyway!
