I wear a body every single day over my bra and knickers. Come rain, come shine. Winter and summer. It is not restrictive shapewear, but it still makes me feel less wobbly, more contained, more self assured.

The best body I have ever owned (and believe me, I have bought a few in my time) is the Jamaika from Wolford. Sadly, like most very good things it is not cheap, but it survives endless 30 degree washes and tumble dries and comes in a good range of colours.

However, I don’t always splash out and have found a more economical option that I like enormously. M&S, the UK’s favourite underwear store, is also good at bodies. For example this Cool Comfort body is £14. The material gently holds your bits in and is stretchy and silky smooth, so trousers just slip over it with ease. Extremely comfortable to wear (perhaps that’s the cool Comfort™ Technology), it machine washes very well. M&S also do a range of wired bodies which you may prefer, as you don’t have to wear a bra underneath.

One last thing – always go for a body that has a popper closure – fiddling around trying to do up hooks and eyes is not ideal.
