Reviews

If you’re looking for a good book review, an absorbing box set to settle down with, or would just like the heads up on some of our recommended products, read on…

When we switch on the television, browse a book shop or open up our phones, we are indulgently spoilt for choice. Never before has there been such an array of entertainment and engaging distraction, the only problem is, what to choose!

At Annabel & Grace our mission is to bring you pieces that appeal to the older woman – to cut through the pages of scrolling on Amazon or Netflix and to deliver reviews of fascinating, enlightening, heat-warming or funny books for women, TV, websites, experiences and apps.

Favourites from Annabel include the book Sixty Somethings by Nicola Madge and Paul Hoggart, an account of the lives of women who remember the Sixties and From Russia with Blood by Heidi Blake which delves into Putin’s ruthless killing campaign and secret war on the west.

On the TV reviews front we select the best from the BBC, Amazon, Channel 5, All 4, SKY and Netflix. From dramas to box sets, films to historical pieces we save you hours of scrolling through the channels. Top tip: keep a list of upcoming programmes you’re interested in seeing on the notes section of your phone as a quick reminder.

Talking of phones, we’ve demystified one of the most popular social media apps in our feature A beginner’s guide to using Instagram, which has helped so many people understand how to keep in touch with friends and family easily. Give it a go yourself and let us know how you get on. You can always start by following our Instagram account Annabelandgracecw!

From a review of Mr B’s Book Spa in Bath (you have to read it!), road testing The Good Housekeeping Institute’s cookery classes, checking out spoken book service Audible.co.uk or one of our pieces that we know lots of our readers related to during lockdown: Older people new technology – are you struggling to use apps?, we’re sure you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained!
