Got a pear shaped body? Here’s how to make the most of it

pear shaped bodyBody shape changes with age and generally speaking women are a neat hourglass in their 20s, full hourglass in their 30s and apple in their 50s. If your hips and backside are wider than your shoulders, you’re the lucky owner of a pear shaped body. Pear shaped bodies typically have a smaller bust line as well. The Pear is the star of our latest vlog. Style expert, Helen Venables, who is the MD of House of Colour, gives us the benefit of her experience on how to make the very best of a pear shape figure.

I would love to know what trousers you would recommend that aren’t jeans. I have, I suppose, an hour glass figure, big bust and larger thighs. I love skinny jeans but they make my legs look like a turkey drum stick! I just feel that my body at 52 has changed and I’ve lost my way with fashion!

Hi Claire. Pear shapes suit straight or flared trousers best. Have a look at these casual trousers (very on trend but comfortable to wear): http://tinyurl.com/ha96ttj – I tried them on the other day and they look great and are very generous around the hip area as well as either straight or flared at the hem. Best wishes, Grace x
