Feel Good Finds Discovered During the last Three Lockdowns

March 26, 2021

This article was written for Annabel & Grace, which is now part of Rest Less.

Thanks to Ginny Vere Nicoll from West Sussex who has done quite a lot of cosmetic/make up sleuthing during our year of lockdowns and consequently has a lot of info for boosting the morale! Here are her feel good finds, products she has tried and found especially good, including a ‘magic’ foundation for mature skin.

Feel Good Finds Discovered During the last Three Lockdowns
Ginny Vere Nicholl, guest writer for A&G, the free online magazine for older women has found a magic foundation for mature skin

Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic range is expensive but certain products are definitely worth it: The Magic Fond de teint is lovely (£34) and you need very little, just in key places, if you use her Wonderglow Face primer (£15) underneath. The primer gives a very light but visibly enhancing coverage and can also be used alone over moisturiser in the Summer. Her Magic cream moisturiser SP15 (£25) is absolutely excellent and has a delicious light fragrance.

Chantecaille's Cheek Gelee available from Space NK - a find along with a magic foundation for mature skin

Chantecaille’s Cheek Gelee’ – colour ‘Happy’ is very suitable for nowadays! At £40 a tube this is expensive but you need a tiny ‘soupçon’, so it really does last for months. It’s light and blends easily, so when you are feeling seriously washed out at the end of the day, it’s easy to re-touch and feel a million dollars again! MORE INFO

Lip Chic £33 is a lovely lipstick. Again expensive but for special occasions I think worth it – ‘Camelia’ is a wonderfully soft flattering colour which goes with everything. INFO

Aromatherapy Associates Rose Body Oil  (£47) a delicious and rewarding massage oil for the thighs. I’m used to swimming a mile a week so reckoned mine needed some help! After a bath or shower it’s nourishing, smells lovely and absorbs quickly, so it’s easy to dress soon after use. Space NK MORE INFO

Living Proof from Space NK - a find along with a magic foundation for mature skin

Lastly hair: Living Proof full dry volume blast (it’s not dry!) really does work. Just follow the instructions for blow drying. My hair is now so long and with our damp weather in this country it usually loses it’s bounce very quickly after washing. But after first use it looked great for a Zoom meeting the other day. It really does give it volume for much  longer – until that is, my dog Nutmeg and I go out for a walk in the wind and rain! £10 for 95ml from Space NK.
