Hot Fashion for now. Enjoy the sun here or plan a holiday abroad

I am so happy to see the sunshine again and so I have dived into my high summer wardrobe and got out all my hot fashion – fashion for those long lazy days lounging by a pool or on the beach, sipping a glass of something chilled. Okay so I am still in my garden in Oxfordshire but how I have appreciated having some outdoor space these last few months. So I am quite happy to have my staycation here.

How about a few bright sundresses? I find with a bit of a tan I don’t mind exposing my upper arms and saying yes, my upper arms are a bit flabby but hey I am 61 years young so what do you expect? Perfect body shape was never in my grasp so the body I have now is the result of four pregnancies and the odd slice of cake! I am happy with it and regular yoga is keeping it fairly toned.

One of my favourite fashion websites to browse in is ANTHROPOLOGIE. Everything is feminine and there are lots of floral and/or floaty dresses to be bagged this summer.

Of course when I think of holiday clothes I always visit the Aspiga website as it is truly the Queen of Holiday wear. They have every style, shape and colour that you could possibly want for those hot fashion days. For me it needs to be simple, roll up and put in a beach bag to throw over a swimming costume for lunch. I love the Aspiga Guadalupe Organic Cotton Short Tunic in White/Gold £65 MORE INFO Also this Sophia Shirt Dress in Aqua Pebbles (3 other colourways available) £98 MORE INFO

From ASPIGA Laura Mule £115
available in navy also

I have a couple of pairs of wedge espadrilles that I bought from Aspiga a few years ago and they still serve me very well. This season they have brought out the Laura Mule which collaborates the mule and the espadrille creating an essential sandal you will wear all summer long. Featuring an 8cm wedge heel on a 4cm flatform base MORE INFO

If you want something totally unique to you then look no further than Lisa Taylor designs. They create luxury clothing, accessories and homeware by recycling, up-cycling and giving new life to vintage saris and kantha fabrics. As you would expect the colours are glorious, rich and unusual. It is so hard to choose one piece but below are a couple of their individual pieces that I think are very special.

BODEN is another website that you can always find something that is purse-friendly. However I agree with some of our readers that much of their collection is geared to the younger woman. However I found this Kelsey Linen Tunic and Roberta Kaftan both of which I would wear in the summer with flip flops and a tan. If your legs are tanned you can get away with the shorter styles. However both styles would work over long shorts or Capri pants.

Finally where do I always head to…..the Me+Em sale. I have had my eye on this Halter neck dress in Peony Pink for some time. It is a dress that makes me think of hot summer evenings, casual dinners, good friends and a glass of something chilled (gosh I think I have mentioned that already!). It has been reduced from £150 to £105. Or this Feminine Check Dress reduced from £225 to £157. It has pretty lace panels that are not revealing but do give it a lighter feel. For something more formal try the William Morris Paisley Print Dress which is also in the sale reduced from £295 to £207.

The sun is such a healer and and a natural provider to our bodies of vitamin D which has now been proven to be helpful in the fight against Covid-19. It has been a very testing few months but the sunshine has helped and now we are blessed with some more. So make the most of it and don’t keep your hot fashion items for a holiday as this may be your holiday 2020 and to be honest. ‘it ain’t half bad….weather wise that is.’
