Clothes Doctor has cured all my laundry ailments

In a world where sustainability is gaining increasing importance, finding eco-friendly alternatives for everyday products is crucial. Laundry products are an absolute minefield. Over the course of my life, I have splashed out on a few special items of clothing that I have loved and subsequently lost due to careless washing or too harsh a detergent. How often have you shrunk a woollen sweater or one of your children’s favourite cotton shirts? In my case, these events are too numerous to mention and have sometimes involved days of not being spoken to by the owner of said garment, i.e. one of my children. However, I have lived to tell the tale, and at the ripe old age of 64, I have realised some of these mistakes were caused by the detergent and only a few by my human error.

ANNABEL & BACKPACKING GRANNY

I have often looked at Clothes Doctor and wondered if their products would really make a difference or if it was just the attractive packaging that appealed to me. So when Clothes Doctor contacted us to review their products and offered our readers a 15% discount code – AG15, I thought, what a great opportunity to try them all out and report back to you. I press-ganged BackPacking Granny into joining me on this trial as I knew she had a lot of washing to do for her Pre-loved clothing sale for a charity that she runs every summer.

The first thing you should know about Clothes Doctor is that they offer a range of laundry products that promote a greener approach to clothing care. This review explores the brand’s offerings, including its laundry detergent, fabric conditioner, stain remover and clothes freshener, examining their effectiveness, eco-credentials, and overall value.

Product Effectiveness:

BPG and I found that Clothes Doctor laundry products deliver exceptional results, leaving garments fresh, clean, soft to the touch and smelling delicious too. The Basil and Mandarin Leaf laundry detergent effectively tackles dirt and grime at low temperatures, even on heavily soiled items, while the fabric conditioner leaves fabrics feeling luxuriously smooth without any residue. In addition, the stain remover, Tough Love, is a reliable solution for treating stubborn stains, effortlessly lifting them from various fabrics. I had Lily Stamen stains on one of my favourite sweaters from Me+Em, and it lifted the stain completely.

Apparently, we all wash our clothes too much, which is both bad for the environment and for the clothes. So I was extremely interested to try their clothing care sprays. The Lavender and Thyme knitwear mist was brilliant, giving a musty sweater a bit of va-va-voom. Clothing Spritz targets impurities and removes odours from your garments – like dry shampoo, but for your clothes. They also have antibacterial benefits so that you can wash your garments less – and make your clothes last and smell fresh for longer. In the past, I would have washed it to revive it but not so now. And the White tea and Mint clothing spritz, for all of my clothes, was so good that BPG and I sprayed it liberally as it smelt better than most perfumes.

Plus the Lavender and Thyme mist also provides instant protection from moths. A quick spray of this in the box with your stored winter woollies would be extra protection against those wool munching insects.

Clothes Doctor also produce a gentle Silk Detergent that retains the luxurious properties of your silk or delicate garments. Lightly scented with bergamot and sandalwood, the detergent is perfect to cleanse your delicate garments while still being suitable for those with sensitive skin.

OR they have their blue lily and bergamot steamer water which can be used in a steamer or Iron to kill bacteria and leave clothes fresh. Spray directly on clothes using the atomiser head, or simply add a few drops into your steamer so that you can wash and iron your garments less. Wait until you wash your sheets and then use this steamer water in the iron. When you climb into bed, well all I can say is it’s heaven-scent!!

Moth Repellents:

Now that summer has finally made an appearance and looks like it is here to stay, I have finally packed all my winter woollies away. Moths love dirty garments, so I first made sure that they were all clean. Clothes Doctor clothing care products provide you with the ultimate natural moth defence. From the natural moth-repellent scent bags that prevent your wardrobe from becoming their home to their knitwear mists or wool detergent that are scented for a natural defence. No more sad faces when we get out our winter sweaters next winter. Yes, I was so loving the cashmere and wool detergent lightly scented with Himalayan cedarwood and orange oil that I washed my husband’s sweaters before I put them away. Aren’t I a good wife 😉?

Eco-Credentials:

Their strong commitment to sustainability sets Clothes Doctor apart from conventional laundry products. The brand’s laundry range uses natural, biodegradable ingredients free from harsh chemicals, including phosphates and optical brighteners. They take a stand against artificial fragrancing and instead let the beauty of the ingredients talk for themselves. Their magnificent fragrances use only essential oils which seep into your clothes and drift through your home

These eco-friendly formulations minimise the impact on the environment and reduce the risk of skin irritations. The packaging is also carefully considered, utilising recyclable materials and reducing plastic waste.

The brand’s ethical stance extends beyond product ingredients and packaging. Clothes Doctor encourages customers to repair and care for their clothing, promoting a more sustainable approach to fashion. They offer repair kits, and expert advice, empowering individuals to extend the lifespan of their garments and reduce textile waste.

Overall Value:

Clothes Doctor laundry products provide excellent value for consumers and the environment. Although priced slightly higher than conventional options, the products’ performance, sustainability, and longevity make them worthwhile investments. By opting for these eco-friendly alternatives, consumers contribute to a circular economy while ensuring the longevity of their clothing.

Furthermore, the brand’s dedication to repairing and maintaining garments aligns with the rising popularity of slow fashion and conscious consumerism. The added convenience of repair kits and alteration services saves customers time and money, offering a holistic approach to sustainable clothing care.

Gifts:

Have a look at their Kits and Bundles section. Having really liked The Clothes Doctor products I would happily give them as gifts. Instead of a bottle of wine for a dinner party, try taking one of their sets.

I have already ordered this Baby Gift Box for a friend who has just had a baby girl.

Conclusion:

Clothes Doctor laundry products offer an eco-conscious solution for individuals seeking effective and sustainable ways to care for their clothing. With their natural formulations, biodegradable ingredients, and recyclable packaging, the brand is committed to reducing the environmental impact of laundry routines. And with all of the incredible essential oils giving your clothes a natural fragrance, you will never want to go back to your old laundry detergents.

Moreover, their emphasis on repairing and extending the lifespan of garments contributes to a more sustainable fashion industry. By choosing Clothes Doctor, you not only elevate your laundry routine but also actively promote a greener future.
