Which is why I am going to make these little cold canapes for my husband’s upcoming birthday dinner (sssshhhhhh, don’t tell him, it’s a surprise!). I will assemble them up to two hours before his guests arrive so I can enjoy chatting with them too, rather than running back and forth to the kitchen. 23 calories each, so nice and light.

20 mini mozzarella balls
6 pieces of sun-dried tomato, each cut into 3 or 4
20 basil leaves
20 cocktail sticks
If you prefer, use salami or half an olive instead of the sun-dried tomato.
