And they're off! It's Occasion Wear time... the UK social season is well underway and it's time to dress up

Whether a day at the races, a summer wedding, Grange Park or Wimbledon, the UK social season is underway and it’s time to get out the occasion wear and venture into the sunshine (fingers crossed!) and socialise.

Unless, of course, you are lucky enough to have some tried and tested outfits in your wardrobe just waiting to be plucked out for each occasion, it’s wise to start thinking about what to wear.

I can’t be alone in having a few barely worn formal outfits hanging on the rail – can’t bear to recycle them – just in case! In reality it’s always a good idea to reassess our wardrobes, especially sensible when you are in a decisive mood. Plus nowadays we need to find clothes that we can dress up or down, as good for both the planet and our purses.

Additionally, we live in a less formal age – luckily these days a pretty midi dress will take you practically anywhere. Let’s face it, much as a size 8 silk suit, high heels with an extravagant hat looks amazing, there aren’t that many of us 50+ women who can carry that look off. Probably best left to the twenty-somethings with flowing long blonde tresses. Personally I like to do my best to look good but it’s equally important that I feel really comfortable. So, here are a few fashion finds that fit the bill for occasion dressing for the older woman. As usual, click on any photo or blue link for more information on any of the following…
