Pretty Little Things: Fantastic new Costume Jewellery

Costume jewellery is so often the piece de resistance for an outfit. The finishing touch – even if you are just pulling on an old jumper and a pair of much-loved jeans. So I thought I would take a look at what’s new and interesting from some of our favourite online brands.

A Tiny Kiss to Change Lives Founder Chrissie Rucker of The White Company, has designed this sterling silver necklace featuring a prettily delicate Swarovski-stone kiss. £20 from the sale of each £39 necklace goes to #ChangeAGirlsLife Campaign for Women Supporting Women at The Prince’s Trust. It can be hard to find costume jewellery that has an impact without being heavy. I have several dramatic necklaces that I’ve had for years but hardly ever wear because they weigh my neck down. So these days, I look for large yet lightweight necklaces such as this one from M&S for £17.50. I think it would look equally fantastic worn with a roll neck jersey or a crisp white shirt. MORE INFO

A quirky ring is the perfect introduction to the fun of costume jewellery. This impressive sterling silver (or gold) cocktail ring is from Wolf & Badger. MORE INFO. Remember, as you will be drawing attention (and admiration!) to your hands, check your nails are groomed. A quick coat of Orly Kiss Me I’m Kind quick drying varnish will give you pretty nails in a couple of minutes.

If you have long hair then a pair of drop earrings are a must. And not just for evenings! My friend Bumble loves standout earrings and happily wears them in the daytime (usually fun and bright) as well as when she’s out in the evening (something more sophisticated) – they always give her a point of difference. Loving these expensive-looking Leona Faux Pearl & Gem Drop Earrings from Oliver Bonas. £18. MORE INFO

Butterfly earrings £5

For those of us who feel more confident sporting small earrings, then how about these colourful blue butterfly studs? £5 from M&S. MORE INFO

To perk up an outfit, always add one statement piece. This is especially true if you are wearing something like a very simple sheath dress. Add a cuff bracelet to your wrist and that’s all you’ll need for instant impact and a sophisticated look. This Cleopatra cuff is from Aspinal of London and is available in five stunning colours in small or medium. £95. MORE INFO

I wouldn’t be without my silver bracelets which I wear next to my watch. I never take them off – not even in the shower – as I think they are ‘trouble-free’ instant chic! You can have an eclectic mix of friendship and charm bracelets – as many or as few as you like. They’re incredibly easy to style and they will go with everything.  Check out one of Monika Vinader’s covetable rose gold Linear Chain bracelets MORE INFO and Hersey & Sons’ range which includes this silver chain bracelet £116.
