Father’s Day is in two weeks (20th June), so I have focused a little on this day. However, most of the top products I have chosen would work as gifts for anyone, including oneself. There are items to relax with and others that are just useful and will make life easier.
BRIDGE IN THE BOX CHEQUERS/CHESS BOARD:
This very colourful chess and checkers board from Bridge in the Box – 2 games in one – would make a perfect present for any father that loves these games. Since it is so decorative it would look great on display. Plus I am sure that grandchildren would be captivated by the colours and enjoy learning these games.
However, what about a housewarming present? My youngest daughter is about to move into a new home, fingers crossed, and she would love this modern design of an ancient game/s.

SALAD DRESSING MAKER:
When I am cooking, I often give the job of making the salad dressing to one of the children. This shaker, from Wayfair (, is a perfect choice for creating a variety of salad dressings and oil and vinegar recipes. It features printed recipes on the sides of the bottle for dijon vinaigrette, caesar salad dressing, Asian vinaigrette, Jackie’s vinaigrette, and creamy vinaigrette. The bottle also features integrated twin pouring lips, an acrylic stopper, and a brushed steel base rim.
THE SALAD BOWL:
This recipe book would be an excellent complement to the above Salad Dresser Shaker. My friend, Emma, recently sent me a picture of Parma Ham, Pear & Stem Ginger Salad that she had just made, and she said the recipe was from this recipe book, The Salad Bowl. She told me that all the recipes are easy to make and make such a difference to her regular repertoire of salads.
PERSONALISED GOLF TOWEL:
Emma also has a golf-mad husband and their children have bought him a Father’s Day present of a personalised golf towel from Not on the High Street. It is made of a high-quality tri-folded velour golf towel featuring a stylish eye and cleat; these make a great gift, especially when embroidered with an initial.
The golf towel is available in a wide choice of colours.
I love doing puzzles. They are my go-to relaxation activity. I find that I can get completely submerged in completing the puzzle and I forget everything and everyone else around me. These puzzles would make a fabulous gift to anyone who loves puzzles as they are wooden, hand-designed, printed and produced in their factory in Wales. Grace recently bought me one and I am about to start it so I will post a picture when done.
They are very special because there are shaped pieces themed to match the puzzle. Many of the wonderfully shaped pieces are challenging and weird. They have a new Summer Collection and you can buy each puzzle in a choice of sizes – 250, 500 or 1000 pieces.

POPCORN & CHOCOLATE KITS:
Pure Heavenly has teamed up with the Popcorn Shed to produce these sets of chocolate and popcorn. We have written about Pure Heavenly Vegan chocolate before (see review HERE in a previous Top Products article). They recently sent me a box of salted butterscotch gourmet popcorn from the Popcorn Shed with their own orange flavour chocolate and instructions on how to combine the two. If the speed with which my family consumed it indicates its taste, then it gets a 10 out of 10 or 5* rating.
PURE DEO DEODRANT
This one is not a gift suggestion unless you want to lose a friend!
A friend grabbed this from TK Maxx about a month ago. She says she has tried aluminium free many times over the last 15 to 20 years and it’s all been pretty rubbish BO wise, but this is extraordinarily effective for her. No smells with this one! I can only find it on eBay.
Finally a wooden comb for removing pilling from knitwear. A good, affordable gift for anyone.
To use, lie the garment flat and taut and gently comb in one direction. Do not use on knitwear with rib or cable detailing. Another handy little gift. Once you have one you will wonder how you ever did without. Me+Em have produced one that is really efficient.
