Turmeric trial – the results

September 10, 2016

Almost exactly a month ago I asked the question “Turmeric – is it a wonder drug?”   It is well known that the curcumin in turmeric has beneficial anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Scientists are also studying its potential for improving cognitive function, blood sugar balance, and kidney function, as well as lessening the degree of severity associated with certain forms of arthritis and certain digestive disorders.

So, with such a buzz around this spice, I was keen to find an easy way to ingest some on a regular basis. Much as I love a good curry, I wasn’t finding it easy to incorporate turmeric powder into my diet every single day of the week. So, as you know, I have been trialling the easy-to-swallow Turmeric+ pills from FutureYou for the last four weeks.

In my last post I admitted to various aches and pains – a sore thumb joint, tender lower back, stiff right shoulder and aching knees. Seems most of this is down to burgeoning arthritis – something that happens to everyone after they hit 60 according to my doc. After taking two Turmeric+ pills a day I can honestly say my aches have diminished considerably, in the case of my shoulder and knees – disappeared. I no longer take ibuprofen for the nagging pains.

No-one is more surprised than me, I must say. I have never been interested in supplements with the exception of a few Vitamin D in the winter to stop me feeling S.A.D. But Turmeric+ really has made a difference. I’m impressed.

Turmeric+ trialSeems it’s not just me that has seen a noticeable improvement in the reduction of joint pain. There are over 70 customer reviews on the FutureYou website and overwhelmingly people are saying that they have noticed positive effects – even before finishing one month’s tablets. These are typical comments:

I’m not athletic but my joints are beginning to feel more flexible than I am used to. It`s early days yet and at 77 I need to be able to move pain free and after trying other brands I think I`m on to a winner here.

I was skeptical at first but Turmeric+ really worked for me. When my supply ran out and I didn’t get round to reordering, I really noticed the difference.

I have now been taking this for 2 months and all joint stiffness has improved a lot ie if I was 100% stiff before taking it I am now 20% stiff.

First ordered this product with some doubts in my mind. After using it for several months the arthritis in my shoulders has significantly improved and I no longer need to use painkillers. I am no longer bothered with pain disturbing my sleep.

According to the FutureYou blurb, their turmeric supplement is 30x more absorbable than standard turmeric. You can take it with or without food, there are no known issues taking it with alcohol, it’s gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. It’s not suitable though if you have an allergy to soy, or if you are taking blood thinning medicines. And, of course, if you are taking any medication it is best to consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any supplement.

So, is turmeric a wonder drug? If my experience is anything to go by it is all positive and – with the colder weather looming which always makes my aches and pains more noticeable – I’m definitely going to continue with this supplement.

UPDATE: It’s now May 2018 and I’m still taking the tablets!
