Walker and Hawkes is a completely new company for us at The CountryWives. We do like it when we are contacted by someone unknown to us. They are probably unknown also to many of our readers. They are a natural fit with us as they produce a range of country clothing which is both stylish and practical. I am not into hunting, shooting and fishing though many of my family are so when Walker & Hawkes asked us to review their new collection I immediately thought of my sister-in-law who lives in Devon.
She is a very stylish lady and is often found out mucking out her horses or riding out. Then a quick shower and change and she is just as likely to put of an outfit from Me+Em. So she is definitely a fashionista and someone who would be discerning with her choices. Her country clothes need to keep her warm and dry at this time of year.
Walker and Hawkes try to stock the full country wardrobe, from hats to trousers to jackets to gilets to coats, waxed cotton to tweed. Their collection of clothing and accessories for men and women are designed for every adventure. You might start out buying something for a day’s sport, but quickly they may end up being worn every day. Visit their website.
I must admit that I start my day with a dog walk and I know the weather is about to change for the worse. So my dog walk will become more of a chore and less of a pleasure. However if I can have outerwear that keeps me protected from the elements but I can continue on with my day without having to change I am very happy. It needs to be designed to keep me looking good. I don’t always have the time to go home to change.
So we asked my sister-in-law to try out the Walker and Hawkes Ladies Derby Tweed shooting waistcoat and this is what she said.
“I love this waistcoat! Just what I have been looking for to wear on milder shooting days when a coat is too much. There are a selection of interesting colour ways that are suitable for shooting or other countryside activities. I will also be wearing it to my local point to points. The good quality tweed will mean this waistcoat will be durable as well as stylish for years to come. It is tailored to cover the base of my back ideal to keep out draughts! An attractive and practical product that I would highly recommend.”
As I said she is a very stylish lady that looks just as good in Sloane Street as on Dartmoor. I trust her implicitly when she says that this is a range that she would highly recommend.
The reason that I like Walker and Hawkes is that their prices are very competitive with other similar brands. They have not compromised on the quality. They have also combined style with practicality. This red wax jacket on the right is a perfect example of incredible good value. It is available in sizes 8 – 18. Click here to purchase.
There are also some great gift ideas for the man in your life if he is an outdoors type. This Unisex Navy Wax Outback Aussie Wide Brim Hat is £12.95.
