We may not be fully able to resume our normal lives, but that only makes me keener to use the extra time we have at home to try some new things. Apart from my new addiction of listening to audio books while I’m doing my daily walk (currently a riveting listen called Don’t Hold My Head Down which I have borrowed, free of charge, from my local library) I’m also really enjoying looking at what’s new fashion-wise on the internet. I’ve found a couple of new brands you might like as well as some just in style from one of our old faves…
This slogan tee from Kind Clothing has the perfect message as far as I’m concerned. It’s made from 100% organic cotton t-shirt and is beautifully soft. All their clothing is made in the most humane, ethical and eco-friendly way possible. MORE INFO
This week I thought I’d try on some of the New In clothing from M&S. And I’m glad I did because, amongst other things, I’ve found a brilliantly comfortable pair of heeled sandals. I always wear flat shoes as no-one ever bothered to teach me how to totter along in stilettos, but these wedges give you height as well as stability! Plus they are such a great neutral colour. Also available in black and sizes 3 – 8. Fit true to size. Heel height 85mm (which is 3½” in old money). BUY NOW
Three years ago I wrote an article on how to wear a jumpsuit and so, taking my own advice, I went for this pure cotton navy broderie anglaise number. It comes with a plain material matching belt, but I preferred a wide leather belt I found in the dark recesses of my wardrobe. Jumpsuit info here
I thought I’d do some mixing and matching and came up with this pretty floral combo of a sensibly-sleeved Leaf print top – currently on sale £9.50 and on-trend wide leg palm print culottes £19.50. Also liked the top paired with my fave Magic Shaping High Waisted white jeans – currently on sale at £11. And highly recommend the linen relaxed knitted top £19.50 (two other colours available) – am usually a 16 on top, but this was a size 14. Am pretty sure it will get worn and worn as it teams up with pretty much everything in my wardrobe.
Annabel has been trying a more youthful look recently. Here she is pictured with her youngest daughter, wearing matching Me+Em joggers. There may be an age gap but I think they both look great. We shouldn’t be nervous about being contemporary. Have a look at the range of joggers available at Me+Em which start at £87. MORE INFO
While you’re on the Me+Em website, check out their sale items – the quality of their clothes is excellent and the styling is timeless. A great time to nab a bargain…
Another recent find of ours is Artichoke. Set up by Sarah, a bubbly and entrepreneurial farmer’s wife from Norfolk, she has much to offer the midlife woman. Marvellous-Mother-In-Law, Annabel and I are all hooked on her comfortable yet stylish clothing. You can find these Grenouille oversized shirts and fabulously stretch trousers over on her website.
Last but not least, From Future is a website that I’m sure is geared towards millenials but if you scroll down past the pretty little girly dresses, you will find their knitwear. A French brand, they specialise in responsibly sourced clothing in cashmere, silk, ice wool and cotton. I bought this vibrant green jumper and I bloody love it! Fine wool, it has long sleeves and is a longer length which I find flattering for my apple shape. There are cropped versions if you like to show off your waist (am not jealous that you have a waist… much!). Why not have a look at their website.
