Weekend Gifts: Try To Be A Bit More Innovative & Inspired

The giving of presents when you visit friends for dinner or for a weekend have progressed a lot over the years. A box of chocolates, a bunch of flowers or some wine does not do the trick as weekend gifts. They still suffice for a dinner party however even then you may have to be a little bit more imaginative.

We have found a few potential weekend gifts that would be welcomed by any hostess. Remember it is hard work getting everything ready for people to stay. Life may have been simplified with online supermarket shopping however there is no shortcut for making beds or even for all of the cooking unless you cheat and go to COOK food so that you are not a slave to the kitchen.

Bowl of Qnola / weekend giftsSo get the weekend off to a good start with a lovely gift. How about some Qnola? Breakfast is no longer a traditional English fry-up so bringing something a little different to enhance this meal will always be popular. Qnola is a quinoa based breakfast food made from 100% natural ingredients.

Quinoa is a fibrous seed considered as the only plant food to be a complete protein. All Qnola products are free from wheat, gluten and refined sugars. Add to smoothies, or sprinkle on your cereal, yoghurt or porridge. I love the Cinnamon and Oat Crunch but you can purchase a sample pack to try them all out, before you put in a proper order. Another idea is to make up a small basket of ‘goodies’ and include, for example, some Turmeric Tea.  As I type this I am drinking a cup as it has so many health benefits. It is claimed to help with arthritis and protect the brain as the natural chemical Curcumin, which is found in Turmeric, helps with all of these and also gives this tea its distinctive colour and spicy flavour. I did not find it too spicy, it has a very gentle flavour and was very pleasant to drink.

If you are feeling very generous and don’t want to be entirely on a health kick you could pop in a bottle of gin – see our review of Partridge’s Chelsea Gin click HERE.
